Overview
The CMA New Zealand Professional Education Programme is a five-stage, 18-subject educational programme. The programme has 190 credit points and could normally be completed in 2.5 years full-time or equivalent.

Entry Requirements
Stage 1: Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)
The minimum qualification for entry into CMA New Zealand Professional Education Programme is the completion of the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 or equivalent.
Candidates of CMA New Zealand Professional Education Programme may be admitted to the programme at a stage above Stage 1 (CAT) if they have relevant prior qualifications as listed below:

Stage 2: Registered Cost Accountant (RCA) Stage
- Certificate (NZQF Level 4) in Accounting or equivalent
Stage 3: Registered Business Accountant (RBA) Stage
- Diploma (NZQF Level 5) in Accounting or equivalent
Stage 4: Graduate Management Accountant (GMA) Stage
- Bachelor’s Degree (NZQF Level 7) in any discipline other than Accounting or equivalent
- Diploma (NZQF Level 6) in Accounting or equivalent
Stage 5: Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Stage
- Bachelor’s Degree (NZQF Level 7) in Accounting, Commerce or Finance or equivalent
- Postgraduate Diploma (NZQF Level 8) in Accounting or equivalent
- Master of Professional Accounting (NZQF Level 9) or equivalent
- Master of Business Administration Degree (NZQF Level 9) or equivalent
- Professional qualification in Accounting from a recognised professional body
